National Independent Venue Foundation

Empowering more inclusive and sustainable independent live entertainment communities

Real and lasting impact

independently-owned venues are important not only for their economic value but for the quality of life they contribute to their communities. I’m delighted to contribute my expertise in economic development, equity, and inclusion towards our important mission of not only saving our stages, but helping business owners maintain financial resilience.

— Taneshia Nash Laird, NIVF Board Member // Inaugural President & CEO of the Greater Roxbury Arts & Cultural Center

I’m excited to be working with the National Independent Venue Foundation on steps that will allow every member of our community the equal opportunity to thrive. It’s more than just that feeling of being in an audience, surrounded by other fans of all backgrounds who are connecting in that moment. Our goal is to support diversity, equity, and inclusion in all levels of our industry - from fans to artists, employees to owners, and beyond.

— Tobi Parks, NIVF Vice President // Owner of xBk Live

My mission with the Foundation is to drive change through the music industry and into our communities. I’m excited to help champion DEI initiatives and ensure that the relationships we foster and the partnerships we develop on behalf of the Foundation are as diverse as the music that connects us.

— Annie Brinn, NIVF Board Member // Senior Vice President of Publishing Administration at Warner Music Group

About NIVF

In September 2020, the National Independent Venue Foundation (NIVF) was established as a non-profit 501(c)(3) by the affiliated trade association, National Independent Venue Association (NIVA), with a membership base comprised of independent live entertainment venues, festivals, and promoters. The mission of NIVF is to preserve and nurture the ecosystem of independent live performance venues and promoters throughout the United States by supporting a transparent, competitive marketplace serving a diverse and inclusive community of artists, fans, and industry workers.

Help us build for the future – see our FY24 Strategic Framework, and make your financial donation!

NIVF seeks to partner and fundraise through individual, corporate, and foundation donations in order to build and maintain initiatives in support of the mission, such as the Emergency Relief Fund, and provide sector support through Workforce Development programming and resource. The Foundation learns from existing best practices and training programs undertaken by independent venues, festivals, and promoters, and expand upon them to provide education and community programming, employee training and support, and economic development initiatives to further develop diversity, equity, and inclusion. Future programming will also support entrepreneurship, management training and minority business funding.
